Write the stopping rules before a session

PAGCOR advises setting time limits, avoiding borrowing and not chasing losses. Its reminders treat gambling as entertainment rather than income. A budget is a boundary on exposure, not a method for making a casino profitable. [1]

Money limitAn amount that does not displace essential spending, if any.Stop when the limit is reached; do not top up to recover a loss.
Time limitA clear end time and a way to notice it.End the session even if a feature, promotion or recent result feels unfinished.

Worked example: a balance is not a profit

Assume a fictional session starts with no balance. There are no bonuses, pending wagers or fees in this simplified example.

Hypothetical session record
ItemAmountHow to interpret it
Total deposits₱350Money transferred into the account during the session.
Withdrawals received₱50Money actually received outside the casino account.
Closing displayed balance₱100An on-screen amount; its withdrawal eligibility still needs checking.
Illustrative net result₱50 + ₱100 − ₱350 = −₱200This assumes the closing balance is fully recoverable. It is not proof that the operator will release it.

If the ₱100 cannot be withdrawn, the money received so far is only ₱50 against ₱350 deposited: a ₱300 cash shortfall. Keep received funds, pending requests and displayed balances in separate columns. Do not count an unreceived withdrawal twice.

Turnover measures repeated wagering

The same money can be staked more than once. Ten hypothetical ₱10 wagers total ₱100 of turnover even if only ₱20 was originally deposited. Deposit totals, wager totals and losses answer different questions; recording only your largest win hides the other transactions.

  • Keep a dated private ledger across platforms rather than treating each new account as a fresh budget.
  • Read whether a platform control limits deposits, net losses, wagers or time. Those are different boundaries.
  • Do not store account numbers, passwords or identity documents in a public tracking sheet.

When the boundary is no longer holding

Borrowing, missed bills, concealed spending or repeated attempts to recover losses are reasons to stop and seek support. PAGCOR publishes self-exclusion and current help resources. An entertainment limit does not replace those options when gambling is causing harm. [1]

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a gambling allowance at all?

No. You can choose not to gamble. There is no required amount or universal affordable percentage in this guide.

Are turnover and deposits the same?

No. The same funds can be wagered repeatedly. Track wager totals separately from money transferred into the account.

Can I treat a pending withdrawal as cash received?

No. Keep pending requests and actual receipts separate so the same money is not counted twice.

What if I keep increasing my limit?

Stop and consider support rather than resetting the boundary. PAGCOR publishes current exclusion and help routes. [1]

Sources and research scope

PAGCOR’s public reminders support the protection and help information. The ledger is an original hypothetical example, not a recommended gambling allowance or a tested casino transaction.
